Didn't really expect this to happen to Max Power, surely the most well known modified car magazine.

Revs I could understand, it was pretty lame and the cars were garish.

I've got stacks of copies on Max Power going back to early 1999, amazing to see the difference in the both the quality of the magazine itself but also the type of cars they featured, compared to now. It wasn't as if they hadn't kept up with current trends, so this news is a bit of a surprise really.

Then again, thinking about my reasons for not buying it so often these days, and the main one is pretty much because I can see virtually the same content online, for free. Which is important as monthly magazines like these aren't cheap, nearly a fiver now iirc.

And they're full of adverts! Is Fast Car still going strong?

Haven't bought it for years, last time I had a flick through in the cars were insanely modified, not my cup of tea. Performance Ford, VW and Redline for me.

I never really liked it. Only read fast ford regular cos I'm subscribed, sometimes buy redline/performance ford/classic ford.

Interesting how Fast Car always seemed to be behind Max Power yet still survives, and now that its biggest competitor has gone it will probably thrive. I expect they may even have some new writers soon too!

Redline has clearly began to specialise in the performance side of things only, yet also still seems to be going strong.

So yeah, I wouldn't be on this forum, or know any of you, if it wasn't for Max Power

I actually bought Max this month to see what it's like these days. I knew the quality had improved, but something was missing. It's not as sleazy as it used to be, more professional yes but it lacks the slightly rebellious tomfoolery it used to contain

And there's hardly any tits now. Let's face it, when you were 14 that was partly the reason you'd buy it

Also, they should still be selling it in plastic packaging, that way people can't just read it in the shop and put it back. I bet that hasn't helped the sales figures as much as it helped the environment..
