I've thought about it cos it would be the next logical step for me, as I like the 16v but fancy a bit more equipment (leather, a/c abs etc which my car doesn't have)

But finding one worth buying is a nightmare, and then you've got the problem of the chocolate gearboxes which don't like much abuse.

So for 5 or 6k I might get something else instead

Less power than my polo in a much heavier shell

WTG!

I had one for a few days when I went to Milton Keynes on a course, gutless was not the word

I found myself so bored with the acceleration I often stamped on the clutch (while still flooring the gas) to wind the revs up a bit

Not good for the clutch but it wasn't my car

Just as well I didn't take the auto version they wanted to give me. Manual ftw

Nothing special

Didn't have leather trimmed steering wheel etc which most Audis have. And the clocks were basic ones, no fancy display or anything.

Anyway where's all this talk of 1.6 A3's come from

I really don't know tbh.. what's fairly decent for 6k that I can get insured on?

If I keep it within the VAG group I'm able to get genuine parts cheaper and I've got access to compatible diagnostic equipment etc.

Doesn't have to be massively quick, as long as it's no slower than my current car it's fine

Want a/c and abs and stuff too

I'd get an EP3 if I were you.

Would need a lot of patience to find the right one though. Low mileage with A/C and in decent enough condition.

Oh?

Only got the 1 quote myself. Was £1800 with 2 years ncb, but I'd need to have been driving a performance car for at least a year. Reckon I can still beat that though, especially with 3 years ncb...
